I’m an artist and illustrator from Fallbrook, California, a small unique town in northern San Diego County. I’m convinced that where and how we grow up and live informs the art we create.
I’ve been drawing since I was a child, sometimes on surfaces I shouldn’t have. Once my drawing skills were directed to paper I found my purpose for life. For me there’s nothing more magical than making marks and creating beautiful images. I grew up wanting to teach others how much fun it is to make art. I earned a BA in Art from Whitter College and a teaching credential followed. I spent 18 years in private and public school classrooms teaching a wide variety of subjects, mostly arts related.
After leaving the classroom I worked another 12 years as a graphic designer, creating advertising products and publications for many clients. They have included realtors, non-profits, bridal, vineyards, golf and sports industries, schools, authors, musicians, local businesses, community services and more.
In recent years I began to create art for the illustration and surface design industry. I’m finally able to make the art I have always wanted to. My purpose is to bring color and words of hope to our increasingly chaotic and busy lifestyles. Art heals and calms people down. I feel very lucky to spend my time each day making art that brings joy.
My art is inspired by nature, an off-beat sense of humor and walking by faith. These themes usually show up in my designs in one way or another. Here are a few more things about me:
- How many Cockatoos I live with
- Cups of coffee I require each day
- How many batteries my mouse gobbles up each year
- How much Joy I receive from making art every day!
